Liebherr Wine Refrigeration DOR Error: Wine Zone Door Open Alert
What Does Liebherr Wine Refrigeration DOR Mean? The DOR display message on a Liebherr SBS or multi-zone wine refrigeration unit indicates that the wine zone door has been reporting “open” for longer than the alarm threshold (typically 60 seconds). On a multi-compartment appliance each door has its own switch — the wine zone, the refrigerator […]
Quick Assessment
Answer to continue safely
Is it safe to keep using?
Maybe. If the wine door is genuinely closed and only the switch is faulty, wine storage continues normally. If the wine door is actually ajar, wine zone temperature drifts.
Can I reset the code?
Yes. A successful wine door close clears DOR immediately.
When to stop immediately?
Stop if you notice: Wine zone temperature climbs more than 3°F above the set point, DOR returns within minutes of every wine door close.
Symptoms You May Notice
Audible door-open alarm sounds repeatedly while refrigerator side is silent
A regular soft beep cycles from the control panel for the wine zone only. The refrigerator zone door alarm continues to function normally and is silent unless its own door is left open.
Wine zone interior LED light stays on continuously
The wine zone interior light is gated by the wine zone door switch; if reported open, the light never turns off and exposes wine to constant illumination.
DOR label visible in the wine zone area of the InfoLight display
The display cycles DOR in place of the wine zone temperature reading. Other zone displays continue to show normal temperatures.
Wine zone temperature begins climbing slightly even though refrigerator side is unaffected
If the wine door is genuinely ajar, cool air escapes from the wine zone faster than the cooling system can replace it. The refrigerator zone is unaffected because it has its own door seal.
Possible Causes
Wine zone door physically left ajar
The most common cause — someone pulled a bottle and did not close the wine zone door fully. The alarm clears when the door is firmly closed.
DIY PossibleWine zone door not closing fully because of an obstruction
A bottle, a removable shelf, or a display drawer is preventing the wine door from sealing.
DIY PossibleWine zone door switch stuck reporting "open"
Debris or sticky residue has held the wine zone reed switch in the open position even when the door closes.
DIY PossibleWine zone gasket worn or hardened with age
The wine zone gasket no longer makes full contact, leaving the wine door fractionally open. Wine zone gaskets often wear differently than refrigerator gaskets because of the temperature difference.
Requires ProfessionalSafe Checks You Can Do
-
1
Close the wine zone door fully and verify the seal
Push the wine zone door firmly closed and listen for the magnetic seal engaging. Run a paper test on the wine zone gasket — close the door on a slip of paper and try to pull it out.
Make sure you are working on the wine zone door specifically — SBS units have separate doors for each compartment.
-
2
Inspect the wine zone door switch
Locate the wine zone door switch (small recessed button or magnetic sensor near the top of the wine zone door frame) and wipe it with a soft damp cloth. Open and close the wine door several times to free a stuck switch.
The wine zone switch is physically separate from the refrigerator zone switch — they are two different parts.
