Liebherr Built-In 30-Inch Bottom Freezer Refrigerator recall — 2011. Liebherr-Hausgeraete Lienz GmbH of Austria and Liebherr-Canada Ltd of Ontario, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, announced a recall on March 3, 2011 covering approximately 5,702 Liebherr Built-In 30-inch wide bottom freezer refrigerators. The refrigerator door can detach, posing an injury hazard to consumers.
Hazard
The screw locking devices that secure the door hinge can malfunction in a way that allows the door hinge pin to become loose. The door can then detach from the appliance, falling onto anyone standing in front of it. Liebherr received ten reports of doors detaching prior to the recall. No injuries had been reported at the time of the announcement.
