Liebherr Built-In 24-Inch Single Door Refrigerator expanded recall — 2011. Liebherr, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, expanded an earlier recall in 2011 to include approximately 2,700 Liebherr Built-In 24-inch wide single door refrigerators. The expansion added 16 reports of doors detaching, including two reports of injuries involving bruising and strains.
Hazard
The same screw locking device defect identified in the original 30-inch recall affects the 24-inch single-door units. The door hinge pin can work loose, allowing the door to detach from the appliance and fall onto anyone standing in front of it. By the time of the expansion announcement Liebherr had received 16 additional reports of doors detaching, including two reports of consumer injuries (bruising and strains).
